The TransForum programme
includes a number of practical projects for the development of innovative
farming methods. By means of cooperation among entrepreneurs with practical
experience and the research world, the practical projects enable many knowledge
questions to be jointly tackled and answered. Some knowledge questions are,
however, more generic or fundamental in nature and come to light when the
various projects are compared with one another. It is precisely these kinds of
questions that lend themselves to scientific reflection and analysis. They are
also the sorts of questions that are tackled within the TransForum Scientific
Programme.
The results of TransForum's Scientific Programme are designed to have immediate
social significance, usability and applicability. The questions raised by the
practical projects provide the agenda for the Scientific Programme, thereby
literally positioning it right in the midst of practical experience.
Five scientific themes
Within the Scientific Programme, TransForum distinguishes four separate themes
together with one more overarching one named ‘Towards a new Agro Innovation
System':
1. Images for the sustainable development for agriculture and green
space
What different images are there for the sustainable development of agriculture
and green space?
2. Inventions related to the sustainable development of agriculture and
green space
What inventions are needed in order to bring forward the sustainable
development of agriculture and green space?
3. Organisation of innovations and transition
How does one ensure that innovations concerning the sustainable development of
agriculture and green space are given the necessary room to be put into effect?
Following on from this, how can individual innovations lead to transition
through systemic innovations?
4. Mobilisation of sustainable consumption How can the consumption of
sustainably produced food be promoted?
5. Towards a new Agro Innovation System What are the functionalities and
parameters for a new Agro Innovation System?
