In the past six years TransForum has published 10 ‘Working papers’. These working papers vary between commissioned position papers that were helpful to focus the TransForum scientific program and reports of the results of innovative practical projects. Inventions for a Sustainable Development of Agriculture

Working paper 1
Inventions are defined as radical new ideas, perspectives, business models and technologies that hold the potential to trigger a step change in sustainable agricultural development. However, they are initial ideas that may either require further elaboration, further development or further analysis before they can become the input around which innovation can be organized.

The Organisation of Innovation and Transition

Working paper 2
The realisation of innovations and transitions is to some extent dependent on organisational and institutional conditions. These conditions concern both the capabilities and motivations of individual entrepreneurs, new innovative models for the collaboration between firms, more motivating and mobilising ways of monitoring sustainability effects, new ways of organising public-private coalitions, and new models to link together more effectively private business and the sustainable development of regions.

The Mobilisation of Sustainable Consumption

Consumption of more sustainable produced products is important for sustainable agricultural development. Autonomous consumer demand for more sustainable products and services is often too weak for the market to self-regulate on purely economic incentives only.

The Design of an Innovation Enhancing Environment

In order to support innovation processes characterised by sustainable production and high added value products and services, the ‘old’ innovation system, very successful in supporting the mass production based agro system, has to go through a structural transition.

Greenport Shanghai

The Innovative practice project Greenport Shanghai is an innovative and ambitious exploration of metropolitan agriculture in China. Greenport Shanghai is a 27 sq km agro production and processing park on Chongming Island, in the mouth of the Yangtze river near Shanghai.
